The Society

The Albanian Geotechnical Society (AGS) is founded in year 2000 as an initiative of a group composed by specialists, academics and geotechnical engineers. The society is registered with a decision No. 924 and act No. 2393 of the Tirana District Court in April 6, 2000.In the first organized meeting of the society in October 14, 2000 Prof. Dr. Luljeta Bozo was voted as President of AGS and  Eng. Neritan Shkodrani was elected as secretary of the Society.

 

The Management Council was composed by:

–          N. Shkodrani

–          K. Goga

–          Y. Myceku

–          E. Arapi

 

Also during the meeting it was decided that Albanian Geotechnical Society must have its published bulletin named “Gjeoteknika”. The editorial team of the bulletin was composed by:

 

–          L. Bozo   as Chief editor

–          K. Goga

–          S. Allkja

–          LL. Marko

–          N. Shkodrani

 

The first objective of the AGS was to join the ISSMGE (International Society of Soil Mechanic and Geotechnical Engineering).After many efforts, in January 2001, the Albanian Geotechnical Society became a member of ISSMGE. From 2000 and on Prof. Dr. Luljeta Bozo was elected as President of the Society. After the elections of 2008 Eng. Erion Bukaci was elected as secretary of the society. In 2012 the Albanian Geotechnical Society became a member of ISRM (International Society of Rock Mechanics).
